Seminar Presented by Mohashin Uddin Pathan from Australia at EEE Department of SEU 

Mohashin Uddin Pathan, PhD Fellow, Latrobe Institute for Molecular Science,Latrobe University, Melbourne, Australia delivered a seminar titled“ Cryptography and Its Practical Demonstration” on 27 February 2018at 10:00 am in the Seminar Hall of the permanent campus of Southeast University (SEU).

Prof. Syed Fakhrul Hassan, Dean (Acting), School of Science and Engineering (SSE) of Southeast University was present as the Chief Guest of the seminar. In his speech as the Chief Guest, he welcomed the seminar speaker to SEU and highlighted the importance of arranging such kind of seminar by various departments of SSE at SEU. He also encouraged the students to gain knowledge from the seminar and apply the same to their fields.

At first, Mr. Mohashin Uddin Pathan introduced cryptography terminologies, its history and importance. Then hetalked about confidentiality and integrity of digital messages for communication especially through internet with examples in internet banking, online payment, news portals, social media etc. He also emphasized the need for learning cryptography and various encryption and decryption methodsby EEE students to implement it in VLSI or in FPGA. The main focus of this seminar was the interactive demonstration of hacking Caesar cipher and substitution cipher, RSA encryption and digital signature, hash functions etc. Finally, he briefed about bit-coin. Faculty Members and students also took part in a lively question and answer session after his talk.

Dr. Engr. Muhibu lHaque Bhuyan, Chairman of EEE Department chaired the seminar.In his concluding speech, he thanked the Chief Guest for his kind presence, Key-Note Speaker for his nice and lucid deliberations on this important topic, Management of the University for their Financial And Logistic Supports And concerned Faculty Members and staff of the department for their co-operation as well as to the students for their patience listening to the seminar. Engr. Mehedi Azad Shawon, Lecturer and Coordinator of EEE Department conducted the seminar. A good number of Faculty Members, students and staff of the department were present in the seminar. In the end, the Chief Guest presented the seminar speaker a crest as a token of appreciation for the presenting the seminar.
