Professor Dr. Md. Abul Kashem Mia joined as the new Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the United International University (UIU). His appointed has been made by the Hon’ble President of Bangladesh and Chancellor of the University for a 4-year term.

This appointment is effective from 13th April 2021 (Tuesday). Prior of his joining at UIU, Professor Dr. Md. Abul Kashem Mia was a Professor of BUET and former head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) of BUET in 2001-2003. And he was also the Controller of Examinations of BUET for about 6 years. He also held important administrative positions in BUET for 20 years. He served as Dean of the School of Science and Engineering at UIU for one year.

Professor Kashem completed his Bachelor’s in EEE and Master’s in CSE from BUET in 1989 & 1992 respectively. He obtained his Ph.D. from Dept. of System Information Sciences of Tohoku University – Japan in 1998 and MS from the same university in 1995

He has engaged himself in multidimensional research. He is researching algorithms, parallel processing, graph theory, graph visualization and computational complexity. A total of more than 50 of his research papers have been published in national and international journals.
