  • Govt. B.L. College
Government Brajlal College, also known as BL College, is one of the oldest college in Bangladesh, located in Khulna, a divisional city in the southwestern part of the country.
The college touches its origins to the Hindu Academy, which was established in July 1902 by Babu Brajlal Chakraborty (Shastri), a notable patron of education. The academy was modeled after the Hindu College in Calcutta (now Kolkata), which was founded in 1816.
Initially, the institution was residential, with classes for both first and second-year students starting simultaneously.
The academy began with marginal resources, operating out of two tin-shed rooms on a small plot of land. Over time, it grew significantly.
In 1907, the academy was affiliated with Calcutta University, and it continued to expand its facilities. A major contribution came from the Mohsin Fund, which donated 40 acres of land from the Syedpur estate to the institution, allowing it to develop further.
In recognition of its rich history and contribution to education, the institution was later named Government Brajlal College. Today, it continues to offer a range of academic programs and is an important educational hub in the region.
