Dr. AshiqurRahman, Research Assistant, Department of Electrical, Electronic and Systems Engineering, UniversitiKebangsaan Malaysia (UKM)delivered a seminar titled“Electromagnetic Performances Analysis of an Ultra-wideband and Flexible Material Antenna in Microwave Breast Imaging” on 17July 2017 at 03:00 pm in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of Southeast University, Tejgaonpermanent campus.
Dr. Ashiq talked about how a compact and efficient antenna is developed on a flexible dielectric substrate with effective electromagnetic performance both in flat and bending conditions for microwave breast imaging application. In his talk, he explained how he employed flexible substrate to fabricate it from the mixed ferrite compound by the sol-gel method. In comparison to other microwave based imaging sensor systems such as negative index metamaterial incorporated UWB antenna sensor, he proposeda bi-static radar based imaging system consisting of two omni-directional antennas, which reduces the complexity and overall dimension. For the proof of concept, he showed few measured results of the electromagnetic performance both at flat and bending conditions using a homogeneous multilayer model of the human breast phantom. His results show an effective impedance bandwidth of 1.2 GHz, average radiation efficiency above 83%, average realized gain above 1.8 dBi and stable omnidirectional radiation patterns both in flat and bending conditions throughout the operational frequency band. Prior to embedding the sensor into the bra, he also developed a wearable sensor based smart bra. Finally, he answered various questions raised by the students and faculty members of the department on his presentation topic.
At the end, Dr. Engr. MuhibulHaqueBhuyan, Chairman of EEE Department presented seminar speaker Dr. AshiqurRahman a crest as a token of appreciation for presenting the seminar and thanked all the audiences present in the seminar and asked them to research for such type of humanitarian issues of the world. He also requested Dr. Ashiqfor starting any kind of research collaboration between SEU and UKM and wishes him to visit next time this department whenever he comes to Bangladesh and his nice and safe return to Malaysia.
