A leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) was killed and at least nine others injured in a factional clash in Comilla University early Monday over a candle lighting programme, reports news agency UNB.

 

The deceased was Khaled Saifullah, a student of Marketing Department and organizing secretary of Kabi Nazrul Hall unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League.

Mujibur Rahman, the Registrar of the university, said a clash ensued between the followers of university unit BCL president Alif and another BCL leader Ilius Sabuj over lighting candle in front of the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, marking the start of August, the month of mourning.
