Rank-1: North South University (NSU)

North-South University (NSU) is the first private university in Bangladesh. The government of Bangladesh approved the establishment of North South University in 1992 under the Private University Act 1992. North-South University was established by a group of philanthropists, industrialists, bureaucrats, and academics. The university’s campus is at Bashundhara in Dhaka. The foundation of the campus was laid on January 30, 2003, by Begum Khaleda Zia. Classes started in the permanent campus on June 9, 2009.
This campus can serve up to 15,000 students with amenities and facilities. It contains six buildings with three basements on six acres of land having 665,000 square feet of floor space. The number of students at the university is about 20000 and the number of faculty members is about 830. NSU has a rich library with a total collection of books of about 50,000.00. The laboratories of NSU are also well-equipped with modern equipment.

Rank-2: BRAC University (BRACU)

BRAC University (BRACU) was established in 2001 under the Private University Act 1992.  BRACU was founded as an educational concern of the BRAC organization by Sir Fazle Hasan Abed in the year 2001  It follows the liberal arts approach to education which nurtures fresh ideas and gives new impetus to the field of tertiary education. It ensures a high quality of education and aims to meet the demands of contemporary times. BRAC University provides performance and merit-based scholarships for its students.
BRAC University’s present campus is situated at Mohakhali, Dhaka, and its permanent campus at Merul Badda is over 5 acres, and it is expected to open in 2000. The construction work is rapidly going on. The university has decided to shift to a permanent campus in 2021.
BRAC University has about 9800 students and 600 faculty members. Students of BRACU have to attend a mandatory residential semester at its Savar Campus. The last (12th) Convocation of BRAC University was held in 2017. The Library and the Laboratories of BRAC University are very rich and well-equipped.

Rank-3: Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB)

Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) is one of the oldest, largest, and finest private universities in Bangladesh and its permanent campus is in Bashundhara R/A, Dhaka, Bangladesh. The university was established in 1993 by the Private University Act, 1992. IUB has 29 undergraduate and 15 postgraduate programs under 19 Departments.

Rank-4: East-West University (EWU)

East-West University Bangladesh is a private university in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is one of the oldest private universities in Bangladesh. East-West University was established in 1996 as a non-profit organization.  
 
East-West University’s permanent campus is located in Aftabnagar, Rampura, Dhaka close to Bangladesh Television.
The campus has 7.4 bighas of land. The total floor area of the 9-story university complex is 4,58,957.04 square feet with modern facilities. EWU has about 12000 students and about 450 faculty members. 
 
The 15th convocation of EWU took place on Wednesday, 27 January 2016 at East-West University, Aftabnagar, Dhaka. EWU provides excellent library and laboratory facilities for the students.

The Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) was founded by the Dhaka Ahsania Mission in 1995. It maintains close collaboration with the University Grants Commission (UGC), Bangladesh, and many other National and International Education Institutions and Professional bodies. The permanent campus of the University has been built on 5 bighas (1.6 acres) of land at Tejgaon Industrial Area which is located in the heart of Dhaka City.
 
The land use in this area is quickly changing from an industrial area to a commercial area.  The academic and administrative activities of AUST are going on its permanent campus. American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) is an accredited and renowned private university located at Banani in Dhaka, Bangladesh founded by Dr. Anwarul Abedin. The university is an independent organization with its own Board of Trustees. United International University (UIU) is a private university located in Dhaka, Bangladesh, The government of Bangladesh approved the establishment of United International University in 2003 under the Private University Act -1992 (now replaced by-2010 ACT). Financial support came from the United Group, a Bangladeshi business conglomerate.
The University has two campuses in Dhaka, both located in Dhanmondi, Dhaka. The UIU main Campus is built with the purpose of imparting education in a befitting infrastructure and congenial environment. Containing about 80,000 sq. ft. of floor space, the campus has 8 floors with two basements.
 
With this capacity, UIU accommodates state-of-the-art IT and Computer Labs, Language Labs, different Engineering Labs, and other essential facilities. Green University of Bangladesh (GUB), one of the leading private universities in Bangladesh, was founded in 2003 under the Private University Act 1992 with a vision to create a global higher education center of excellence. University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) is a private University in Bangladesh.
