QS World University Rankings 2022

QS World University Rankings 2022:- Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) and Dhaka University (DU) have advanced in the subject ranking of Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), a UK-based education and research institute. QS, a global ranking of universities, published the data on its website on Wednesday (April 8th of 2022).

To create a ranking, QS publishes an annual ranking of the world’s universities based on a number of criteria each year. The list is based on research, innovation, graduate performance of universities, institutional success, teacher and student success, international research network, research dissertation sites, number of PhD degree teachers-staff, international teacher-student ratio, student exchange rate at the international level.

There are two separate categories in the ranking. There are five topics in the Subject Area category. These include engineering and technology, social sciences and management, arts and humanities, life sciences and medicine, and natural sciences. Moreover, there are 51 different subjects in the specific subject category.

The list of the best 1,299 universities was published there. This time too, like last time, the names of four universities in Bangladesh have come up. For the fourth time in a row, BUET and Dhaka University are between 801 and 1000. Private universities are also on the BRAC and North-South list between 1001 and 1200. There are 49 public universities and over a hundred private universities that are operational in Bangladesh, according to the University Grants Commission (UGC).

On the other hand, the National University of Singapore is at the top of the ranking of Asian universities. Their score is 100. Dhaka University is in the 142nd position in this list with a score of 33.40. BUET ranks 202nd with a score of 25.40.

The internationally recognized QS rankings were published jointly with the Times Higher Education, a UK-based education magazine from 2004 to 2009; QS became separate in 2010. QS World Rankings were assessed according to six key metrics: academic reputation (40%), employer reputation (10%), citations per faculty (20%), faculty/student ratio (20%), international faculty ratio (5%), and international student ratio (5%).
