All Private University Ranking in Bangladesh 2025:- At present, there are 170 public and private universities in Bangladesh. The numbers of public universities are 55 while private universities are 115.

The first public university was The University of Dhaka, established in 1921. The establishment of a private university is relatively a new phenomenon in this country.

In the early 1990s, the private sector came forward to establish universities. Since then the country experienced spectacular growth in private universities– they were mostly in and around Dhaka.

Private universities are offering market-oriented or job-oriented subjects. According to the Private University Act, it is required to open at least two faculties when a private university is going to establish.

But Computer Science & Engineering (CSE), Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE), Civil Engineering (CE) and Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) are the common programs offered by most of the private universities in Bangladesh.
